This Machame Route Kilimanjaro trek offers a scenic and well-paced ascent to the summit of Africa’s
highest mountain, passing through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacial landscapes. Designed
for good acclimatization and a high success rate, the route provides breathtaking views of the Shira
Plateau, Barranco Wall, and Kibo Peak before the unforgettable summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)
at sunrise, followed by a rewarding descent to Mweka Gate and return to Arusha.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to
your hotel in Arusha. Later, you will receive a detailed briefing from your mountain guide, including
route information, safety measures, and a full equipment check to prepare for your climb.

After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration and meet your trekking crew. Begin the climb
through dense rainforest with towering trees, birds, and colobus monkeys. The trail gradually ascends to
Machame Camp, where you relax and acclimatize.

Leave the rainforest and enter the moorland zone. The trail opens up with wide views of Mount Meru and
Kibo Peak. You continue ascending across the Shira Plateau before reaching Shira Caves Camp, a scenic

This day is important for acclimatization. Trek gradually uphill toward Lava Tower, then descend into the
beautiful Barranco Valley. The descent helps your body adjust to altitude while enjoying stunning views

Today involves a steady ascent through alpine desert terrain toward higher altitude camps. The landscape
becomes more rugged and barren as you approach the base of the summit cone. The afternoon is spent

You begin the summit attempt around midnight. Climb slowly under the stars to reach the summit at
Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend carefully
to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

After breakfast, descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificates before
being transferred back to Arusha for relaxation and celebration.
